Appointments: Leah Bursztynowicz
Leah Bursztynowicz, our new broker for Far North Queensland, will cover Mission Beach, Innisfail, the Tablelands, Mossman, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree, Weipa, Cooktown, Cairns, and west to Georgetown, Karumba and Mount Surprise.
First, some housekeeping. Leah’s surname is pronounced Burs-tin-o-vitch.
“It looks worse than it sounds,” jokes Leah. “You kind of have to clap it out. Burs-tin-o-vitch. I’m used to it being mispronounced!”
The long-term Cairns resident brings a wealth of sales and marketing experience to ResortBrokers from the tourism and finance sectors.
“My sales approach is it’s about the client, not me,” says the 38-year-old. “If they’re happy, they’ll come back. I focus on relationship building, market knowledge and effective communication, ensuring each of my clients feels supported and empowered.”
From 2013 to 2017, Leah was national sales manager of Raging Thunder Adventures, one of North Queensland’s largest white water rafting tour companies. In 2017, she turned her hand to sales, marketing and events management for The Woolshed, a popular Cairns nightspot.
Keen to stay in sales but try something new, Leah joined car dealership Trinity Auto Group, near her home at Trinity Beach, in 2020. As the dealership’s business manager, she generated and managed consumer and commercial loan applications for new and used vehicles through multiple financing channels.
During this time, she added to her skill set with a Certificate IV in Financial Services and an A2.6 General Insurance – Tier 2 qualification.
“In finance, whether it’s mortgages or asset finance, it’s highly regulated. There’s a lot of compliance. I hope to bring some of those finance skills to my new role as a broker.”
Now with ResortBrokers, Leah is keen to continue to serve the North Queensland market. Her zone will cover Mission Beach, Innisfail, the Tablelands, Mossman, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree, Weipa, Cooktown, Cairns, and then west to Georgetown, Karumba and Mount Surprise.
After almost two decades in Cairns, Leah says she’s practically a local. “Way back when, I was a diving instructor, so I naturally gravitated to Cairns. Like me, many people who visit Cairns end up staying because of the great lifestyle.”
“In the North Queensland market, everyone knows everyone. You only really get one chance with people. Reputation is everything up here.”
Outside work, Leah is all about family: her husband and their 13-year-old son. When she’s not spending her weekend with her husband at the football ground cheering on their son playing AFL, they’re out in their tinnie or somewhere else outdoors. END
