Gipsy Point Lakeside resort on the market for the first time, with $3.3m listing
A luxury boutique waterside resort in East Gippsland has hit the market for the first time in 40 years.
Boasting breathtaking views, The Gipsy Point Lakeside Resort is a 1.4ha holiday rental and has been marketed at $3.3m.
The resort has 10 luxury apartments with a protected environment setting and provides “gorgeous” views of Mallacoota Inlet.
It also features 186 person licensed restaurant, a commercial kitchen, a two-bed manager’s residence and workers’ accommodation, a resort-style facilities, which includes an outdoor solar-heated swimming pool, lounge, dining room and a resort shop.
Additionally, the site has a jetty and boat ramp, providing direct access to the Mallacoota Inlet for water-based activities.
The property is just off the Princes Hwy — a popular coastal route between Melbourne and Sydney.
ResortBrokers specialist accommodation broker East Victoria Chris Boschetti said the resort would suit a buyer who loved the area and wanted to offer it to others with the best guest experience.
“There’s a growing market of environmentally conscious travellers looking for sustainable accommodation options in nature-based settings,” Mr Boschetti said.
“This resort is tailor-made for that market.
“Gipsy Point Lakeside is a very doable weekend. It’s five hours’ drive from Melbourne, six from Sydney. You could drive up Friday afternoon and come back Sunday afternoon.”
Mr Boschetti said the resort was a rare market opportunity because it had a unique position in the Croajingolong National Park.
“The environmental protections given to the area as a biosphere reserve (spanning 540 sq km and recognised by UNESCO as far back as 1977) makes it highly unlikely the current number of accommodation businesses in the park will grow,” he said.
Mr Boschetti added tourism in East Gippsland was booming, with visitation numbers breaking historical records and “eclipsing” pre-pandemic levels in 2023.
“The town’s population has only 31 permanent residents — this is a very special place — the vendor’s family has owned and operated Gipsy Point Lakeside since 1985, having first visited Gipsy Point in 1954,” he said.
“They fell in love with the place, as most who come here do.”
Mr Boschetti said the view from the resort was “sensational” as it overlooked the inlet and beyond and the wildlife was “something else”.
“Certainly not what you expect to see when visiting a resort,” he said.
“The ‘locals’ include a mob of kangaroos and all manner of native birds, it’s really special.
“The business itself is perfect for a couple to manage with the addition of some extra hands — one or two staff.”
With approval from the East Gippsland Shire Council, potential buyers also have the option to expand on the site and its apartments for further development.
Inspections of the property are by appointment only and anyone interested should contact ResortBrokers.
