ResortBrokers settles rare marina sale
ResortBrokers’ Gold Coast broker Clint Amos and Managing Director Trudy Crooks have settled the sale of Hope Island Marina in northern Gold Coast.
The 211-berth marina was acquired by first-time buyers Sean and Melinda Hanrahan in an off-market transaction. The sale included a freehold office on title and the exclusive use of three berths.
“Our client, Michael Aherne, operated the marina for the last 15 years. He built an amazing business, and after a great run was looking to retire,” said Clint Amos.
“Sean and Melinda have a love for boating and jumped at the opportunity to combine their business experience with their weekend hobby.”
Hope Island Marina is the focal point of Hope Island Resort, and is surrounded by premium dining, retail, golf courses and Sanctuary Cove Village.
“Marinas rarely transact and are in great demand when they come to market,” added Trudy Crooks.
“Existing marinas are prime commercial assets. Building new marinas face a range of regulatory hurdles to get off the ground. It’s a complicated process with stringent environmental compliance to protect marine life that takes many years to complete. That’s in addition to high construction costs, which are a major barrier to entry at present.” END
