Charity/Community and Associations
Resort Brokers Australia direct their corporate support to one organization known as K’s for Country Kids.
Our Managing Director Ian Crooks was amongst a group of Brisbane businessman who set up this charity bike ride, with the idea of raising money to house parents from the country who had to bring their children to the major hospitals in Brisbane for Leukemia treatment.
Now in its eighth year, the K’s 4 Country Kids charity bike aims to exceed their fundraising total to more than $1 million since the first ride in 2003. These funds have made a significant contribution to the Leukaemia Foundation’s ‘vision to cure and mission to care’ for rural patients and their families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
As the beneficiary of this exceptional event, the Leukaemia Foundation very much appreciates the hard work and dedication of the sponsors, riders and committee members who work together to ensure the success of the ride.
The funds raised on the Foundation’s behalf are used to provide country kids and their families with a range of services including accommodation, emotional support, education, transportation and financial assistance - all free of charge. Funds are also invested in research to find less invasive treatments and cures.
In recognition of the outstanding contribution the bike ride has made over the years, four units at one of the Foundation’s Brisbane accommodation centres, The Clem Jones-Sunland Leukaemia Foundation Village, have been named after K’s 4 Country Kids.
This three-day ride through the Western Downs is not a race and is designed for all standards of cyclists with an emphasis on fun and fundraising. Riders are asked to raise $1500 towards the K’s 4 Country Kids dedication to help rural kids diagnosed with leukaemia by providing funds for treatment and support that may otherwise be unavailable.
